New action plan to be announced from March 2 grand rally:Jalil
CHITTAGONG :–Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil MP has said a new action programme would be announced from the March 2 grand rally in Dhaka to oust the alliance regime for establishment of a people’s government through a free and fair election, reports UNB.
Addressing a rally near Shaheed Minar Saturday afternoon, he said the government has lost the confidence of both people and the donors for its misrule.
The rally was cordoned by five platoons of police and armed forces. Chittagong City AL President MA Mannan presided over the meeting.
The rally could not be held at the premises of Shaheed Minar as police had dispersed the assembled crowd and damaged the stage at noontime.
Following the disruption of the rally, AL activists sat on the road, 200 yards away from the Shaheed Minar.
Condemning the attack on their peaceful protest rally, Jalil said the final movement for ousting the government will begin from the grand rally scheduled in Dhaka on March 2.
The rally was addressed, among others, by City Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, former minister Engineer Mossarraf Hossain and district Bar Association President Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury.
